EAT THAT: Almonds and their benefits !

If you are looking for a healthy snack on the go, then almonds should be one of your first choices on the list of things to take. Almonds can easily add to your cereal, trail mix, or have them on their own. The recommended amount of almonds is about one hand full which is about ¼ cup, each serving is about 162 calories. Let’s face it, if you’re like me you are not going to stop at a handful. The recommended amount gives you about 13 grams of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, 3.5 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein and 75 mg of calcium.  All these added benefits in almonds may decrease the risk of heart disease. Look down below, I have added a few good reasons why you should be eating this nutritious packed snack!

Fun Fact

1.
Almonds help build strong bones and teeth this is possible due to the fact the almonds have phosphorus
2. Almonds can help lower bad cholesterol
3.  Eating almonds can reduce the risk of a heart attack!
4. Riboflavin and L-Carnitine found in almonds boost brain activity and reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease
5.  Almonds lower the rise in blood sugar and insulin after a meal

Hopefully after reading just a few of these facts almonds, maybe you might start eating them more often!

Note: Probably not the healthiest thing to do but coat some almonds in some brown sugar and throw them in the oven for a few minutes, its pretty good.

Easy Mousse Brownie Dessert

I found these Mousse Brownies on Pinterest the other night and I had to try them, originally the person who made these mousse brownies used mint chocolate because it was close to Christmas time. I decided to use regular chocolate  in the mousse brownies instead of mint just because that’s what I had on hand. While making it I had a few hiccups here and there which ultimately made me start over, but once I got it right it actually turned out pretty decent.  This recipe is actually easy, you get to cheat by making boxed brownies and the mousse is made in a matter of minutes. NOTE: If you can, use a spring form pan a regular pan will do but

Box Betty Crocker Ingredients (same as back of box)
Box Betty Crocker Original Supreme brownie mix (with chocolate syrup pouch)
     1/3 c. water
     1/3 c. vegetable oil
     2 eggs

Mousse Ingredients
3/4 c. whipping cream
1 c. Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
3 eggs
1/3 c. sugar
Topping: 1/3 c. Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Instructions

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom only of a10-inch spring-form pan with oil. Make brownie mix as directed on box (don’t put it into the oven yet)

Mousse Instructions

Heat whipping cream and 1 Cup Semi-Sweet chocolate chips over medium heat, stirring constantly until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth. Cool slightly.

Now take another bowl and beat 3 eggs and sugar with electric mixer until foamy (good luck doing this by hand); Now that the chocolate mixture is cool stir it into chocolate mixture. Pour the chocolate mixture evenly over brownie batter in pan.

Bake for about 1 hour and 5 minutes or until the top is set. Cool completely, about 1 hour.Refrigerate until chilled.
Enjoy eating your Mousse Brownies made like a boss.

Stuffed Chicken with Feta Cheese and Spinach

I was looking through pinterest and i found a whole bunch of recipes i want to try out this ended up being one of them.  I wanted something easy to do and this stuffed chicken with feta cheese and spinach ended up being super easy... maybe to easy. anyways it turned out to be a good dish at the end and my family loved it, it something i would definitely make again. side note: try using this feta cheese and spinach stuffing into a porkchop i never tried it but it sounds pretty good.

Note: This recipe serves 4 people, but in the photos there is a lot more because i made enough for 8 people you could do 10 depending on how much you stuff them.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup crumbled feta
  • 1/2 cup thawed frozen chopped spinach, make sure you squeeze it dry
  • 3 TBS of cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup of chopped green onions
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 3 TBS of extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 skinless chicken breasts

Step 1

Get the spinach, feta, cream cheese, garlic and onions together.  make sure you but crumbled feta or pre crumbled feta. It was tedious work having to break up the cheese, i ended up just blending it and it came out perfect.  This is all going to be thrown into one bowl anyways you don't have to separate it
(pre heat oven to 450 F)

Step 2

Get the first 5 ingredients and throw them into the bowl , and mix them together .

Step 3

Cut pockets into the chicken so you can fill them with the stuffing, make sure you DO NOT cut all the way through

Step 4

Now take the chicken breast and pan fry them for 4 mins per side or until they are golden brown. next you can do one of two options. 1. if you have a skillet leave the chicken in there and throw it in the oven OR 2. remove chicken from skillet onto a oven pan or a roasting dish. now throw it in the oven for 10 mins or until you feel its ready :)

DRINK THAT: GREEN TEA

Recently every morning when I get up I have myself a nice hot cup of green tea, although some people might find this gross I put absolutely NOTHING in it and just drink it straight. I personally feel like adding sugar defeats the purpose. I have replaced drinking coffee daily with drinking green tea instead because of the many benefits that it comes with. Also I think I became addicted to drinking coffee, missing a day would give me headaches!  So the switch over was somewhat hard but green tea has many anti-oxidants within it that are beneficial to your health so how could you not be drinking it. Anyways I left a few good reasons why you should be drinking.

1. It has been said that green tea protects brain cells from dying, and it even restores damage that has been done to them! Also it has also been said to delay the deterioration cause by Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease

2. The second reason heart disease, it is said that it helps with preventing clots within the blood.

3. Green Tea House reduce bad cholesterol

4. It is also believe that green tea helps bring down blood pressure or prevent hi bro blood pressure

5. Diabetes green tea how does regulator glucose levels which house with you your diabetes
6.  The first reason is that green tea helps with weight loss, green tea increase the metabolism, the Polyphenol within the green tea intensify levels of fat oxidization

I know that there are many coffee addicts out there but making the switch is worth it! So take the hard challenge of switching over.

Delicious quick and easy mascarpone pasta

I can’t even take credit for this awesome delicious quick and easy mascarpone pasta  recipe I’m about to show you. The other day one of my good friends came over and decided to make ME some dinner, who’s going to turn that down. Anyways she said to me that she found this recipe when she was watching the food network with (Chef Michael Smith, Chef Michael’s Kitchen) and he made this super easy and delicious past recipe. With that being said we had to try it man was it ever good. I provided how to make it below  try it !

Ingredients
1 454 g of any pasta you like (penne)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 150g package of pancetta, chopped

1 125g package of prosciutto, chopped

NOTE: The meats Prosciutto or Pancetta listed above are great, but I suggest adding less because I found it to be salty. Also try substituting the meat with bacon, who doesn’t love bacon?

1 cup mascarpone cheese

4 egg yolks

1 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded

1 bunch fresh oregano, chopped or the dry stuff from the bag

The first thing you’re going to want to do is cut the prosciutto and the pancetta into small pieces. Honestly you’re going to want to use a good knife, the knife I had wasn’t the greatest so we had to rip the meat into tinier pieces. Put oil into a hot pan and throw the meats in, make sure you cook them unit they are nice and crisp.

In a separate bowl whisk together the mascarpone, eggs and parmesan oregano
Cook the pasta until its al dente that would be at least 8-10 minutes. ( we decided to go with penne pasta)

Now throw the pancetta, prosciutto and the penne into the bowl of the sauce that you have made it in, and stir everything together

DONE  now enjoy your delicious mascarpone pasta

Stir Fry !!!

So looking for something quick and easy to whip up in the kitchen? Well I have something for you! This recipe easy extremely easy to follow and tastes pretty good as well. Although this is technically a beef and broccoli stir fry, I decided to throw a whole bunch of other stuff into the mix just to make it look fuller and be a complete meal. The prep time is 15 minutes and is about 15-20 minutes to finish it, and seconds to eat.

Ingredient

1 Package of thinly cut steak strips
1 Garlic Clove
2 Table Spoons of Soy Sauce
1 Cup of Broccoli
1 Cup of Mushrooms
1 Cup of Snow Peas
1 Cup of Bean Sprouts
2 Table Spoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 Cup of beef Broth
2 Tea Spoons of corn starch
2 Table Spoons of water

STEP 1
So gather everything you need and chop and cut everything that you need and place all the vegetables on a plate, since your beef is already cut place it in a bowl with the soy sauce and crushed garlic.

STEP 2
The broccoli you're going to have to cook on the pan,so add 1 TBS of oil and 2 TBS of water, Cook it until the water evaporates and remove from heat and put it back on the original plate. As for the beef, move it to a pan and cook it until its done. This step should not take that long to do, once the beef is done add the beef broth with the cornstarch to give it some thickness

EAT THAT: SPINACH

Lately I’ve been trying to eat a lot healthier, I’ve been doing a few things around the kitchen and replacing a few items that you would usually use, a good example is lettuce. Instead of using lettuce on sandwiches and other things you would typically use it on I replace it with spinach. Also try throwing it into a smoothie, you don’t even notice that it’s there! With the amount of nutrition that comes packed in these leafy greens it is a good choice for you to make the switch as much as you can. Down below I have added a few facts on why you should be eating this amazing stuff.

WHY YOU SHOULD EAT SPINACH

FACT: Spinach is good for nourishing the eyes and the bones.
FACT: It helps the stomach out with digestion and protects its mucus lining and flushes out toxins from the colon
FACT: COOK IT… Half a cup of spinach will give you just as much nutrition as RAW spinach. Plus it also increases health benefits.
FACT:  Got dry itchy skin? NOT A PROBLEM with regular consumption spinach can help relieve those issues

Now you can eat slightly healthier… you’re welcome

STUFFED ROASTED CHICKEN

Okay so you're at home with a whole chicken not knowing what the hell to do with it tired of the same old plain chicken. So if you're feeling like that I like the way I was feeling just scroll down a little and see the easy and simple stuff chicken that I have found searching the Internet(this recipe I got from watching one of Gordan Ramsays cooking shows online but I changed a few things). This recipe is honestly too simple, but it will impress the people that you serve it too making it seem like your some gourmet chef.

Ingredients:
1 Chorizo sausage, diced If you can’t find this you can use any type of sausage
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic
sun dried tomatoes
fresh thyme
1 can of white kidney beans

1 whole chicken
1 lemon
paprika
salt & pepper
1 cup white wine *cooking wine will do*
1 cup water

                                            GATHER YOUR INGREDIENTS SON

Directions

Fry the Chorizo in a little olive oil. Add the onion, garlic, thyme and sun dried tomato. Slow fry for 20 minutes.

Rub that chicken down with some paprika get it all over it, and salt and pepper the inside of the chicken.
Stuff the chicken with the Chorizo mix and stuff a medium sized lemon in the back .

Put the cooking wine and water in a roasting pan, followed by the chicken. Make sure you cover it with foil nice and tight NO HOLES
400F for 1 hour.
Take the foil off and cook for the last hour so it can get golden brown
Cut and squeeze the lemon into the dripping – this is option I suggest you taste the dripping before you squeeze the lemon in. I personally didn’t squeeze the lemon in considering how lemony it tasted already

Cut the chicken up and pour over some of the dripping. Make a gravy with drippings.
